Women’s Soccer erupts for five goals to coast past Pratt

Old Westbury returns to campus next Tuesday (Sept. 17) for a non-conference battle against Rutgers-Newark

BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer scored two first-half goals en route to coasting to a 5-0 non-conference road win against the Pratt Institute Cannoneers (1-3-0) from Aviator Sports Center in Brooklyn, New York.  The Panthers (4-1-0) has now defeated Pratt in back-to-back seasons and off to its best start since opening 3-1-1 during the 2014 season.
 
Old Westbury jumped in front 1:23 in as Gabby Lamanno connected with Mia Almonte to beat Cannonner goalie Casey O'Connor(0-1-0) for what proved to be the game-winning goal.  Almonte doubled the Panthers advantage in the 20th minute with her sixth goal of the season to send a 2-0 game into intermission.
 
The Panthers piled on three second-half goals ignited by Shauna Henderson assisting on Bernadelle Dorvil's fourth goal of the season in the 53rd minute.  Victoria Voboril buried back-to-back goals in the 57th and 67th minutes after receiving feeds from Lamanno and Britney Graham, respectively, to settle the 5-0 final. 
 
Yakeline Umanzor (3-0-0) made two saves to earn her first-career complete game shutout while O'Connor turned away eight shots in defeat for Pratt.
 
Old Westbury dominated play to finish with the advantage in shots (18-3), shots on goal (13-2) and corner kicks (12-0).
 
UP NEXT:
Old Westbury returns to campus next Tuesday (Sept. 17) for a non-conference battle against the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Knights at 4 p.m. from Panther Park.  The Panthers will enter Tuesday's match up with a 3-4 mark against the Scarlet Knights dating back to the 2010 season.
