Men’s Soccer drops Skyline battle to Manhattanville

Old Westbury returns to campus Wednesday (Oct. 2) for Skyline battle against the defending champions Mount Saint Mary College

PURCHASE, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer was unable to overcome an early goal Saturday afternoon as the Panthers (3-5-1, 1-2-0 Skyline) dropped a 2-0 final to the Manhattanville College Valiants (5-2-2, 2-0-1 Skyline) in Skyline Conference road action from GoValiants.com Field in Purchase, New York.
 
Nico Diaz buried the game-winning goal in the 32nd minute past Panther goalie James Perciballi (3-5-1) off a pass from Eli Pardo to give Manhattanville the 1-0 lead.  The Valiants would double its advantage in the 52nd minute as Diaz and Alex Juma connected with Pardo for the two-goal cushion.
 
Grixon Moreira tested Valiant goalie Patryk Siwiec (5-1-2) at the 8:49 and 49:52 marks with on-target shots to lead Old Westbury.
 
Perciball finished with six saves while Siwiec stopped three shots to earn the shutout victory.
 
At the end of 90 minutes, Manhattaville held the edge in shots (22-4), shots on goal (8-3) and corner kicks (7-2).
 
UP NEXT:
Old Westbury returns to campus Wednesday (Oct. 2) to open its four-game homestand starting with a Skyline Conference showdown against the defending champions Mount Saint Mary College Knights at 3:30 p.m. from Panther Park.
