OW Women's Basketball hold strong against Sarah Lawrence College

The Old Westbury (3-3, 2-3 Skyline) Women's Basketball team is back in action as they hosted Sarah Lawrence College (4-5, 2-4 Skyline), January 6, 2022 at Farmingdale State College.

During the action of the first quarter the Old Westbury Panthers pulled away with a 23-12 lead.  Sarah Lawrence used the 3 point shot to narrow the margin to only be down by 5 points at half-time, 36-31.  There were many lead changes and tie scores as each team matched the scoring opportunities as they traveled to both sides of the court.  The second half carried on with OW in the lead but Sarah Lawrence again used their 3 point shot to help climb back into the game shooting 8-17 from behind the arc.   The Panthers were dominating on the foul line during the 4th quarter helping them to increase their lead to victory.   Ja'nya Flash's presence was dominating.  She scored 25 points (10-28 FG, 1-3 - 3-pt, 4-6 FT, 20 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 block shots and 2 steals) as she dominated play on both sides of the floor.  Ashley Cattle had a strong show creating shooting opportunities tallying 18 points (8-17 FG, 0-2 - 3-pt, 2-4 FT, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.  Cherish Francis controlled the point and dished off 7 assists as she went 4-12 FG and 8-10 from the foul line, 2 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal as she totaled 16 points.   Kasiobi Okenwa 13 points, shooting 6-8 FG. 1-2 FT, 11 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.  Melinda Harris completed the scoring total for Old Westbury with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.

Final score Old Westbury 78 - 69 Sarah Lawrence College.

Farmingdale, N.Y. - As of Monday, December 20th, there will be no fan permitted at any Farmingdale State College home athletic contests until further notice. 

The following guidelines for visiting teams remain in place.

Statement Regarding Visiting Teams - Winter 2021-22

1. All tier 1 personnel teams must be vaccinated or following Skyline testing protocols.

2. All tier 1 personnel must wear masks indoors at all times regardless of your vaccination status, other than when practicing or competing. This includes on the bench during games.

3. Visiting teams will be provided a locker room; however, use of the showers before/after games is not permitted.

4. Visiting teams are not permitted to eat in Nold Hall.
