Softball Drops Doubleheader at Manhattanville

The Old Westbury softball team lost two Skyline contests at Manhattanville College

Game One: Old Westbury 3, Manhattanville 11
Manhattanville scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning after the lead off batter Coleman was hit by a pitch, and Lopez doubled to left center to score Coleman. The Valiants added two runs in the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning to bring the lead to 6-0. 

Old Westbury scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to lower the deficit to three, but Manhattanville scored five more runs in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 11-3 victory.

In the sixth inning Gianna Ventiere (0-for-2, R) walked to lead off the inning for the Panthers, and Morgan Albright (1-for-3) followed with a single up the middle; Najeri Felton entered to pinch run for Albright. Hillary Bennett (2-for-3, RBI, R) then doubled to right center to score Ventiere. Jessica Tucci (1-for-1, 2 RBI) then hit a two RBI single to score Felton and Bennett.

Game Two: Old Westbury 0, Manhattanville 9
Manhattanville took the early lead in the second game of the doubleheader with three runs in the bottom of the first. The Valiants later scored three runs in both the second and third innings, while holding Old Westbury scoreless. The Panthers collected three hits scattered throughout the game; Hillary Bennett (1-for-2), Rosanna Cuttone (2-for-2, 2B).
