Softball Returned to Skyline Conference Tournament in 2022

The Old Westbury softball team returned to the Skyline Conference post-season tournament in 2022. The team last made the Skyline playoffs in 2018 as the #5 seed, when the team finished 7-9 in conference play and 14-13 overall.  In 2018, the Panthers lost a tight 1-0 game against #4 Mount Saint Vincent in the first round. This season, the Panthers entered the tournament as the #6 seed, finishing the regular season with a 9-9 conference record.

Old Westbury clinched a playoff spot with a conference doubleheader sweep against Sarah Lawrence College in the last weekend of the regular season. The Panthers defeated the Gryphons by scores of 9-0 and 7-1. As the #6 seed, Old Westbury matched up with Mount Saint Mary College for the first round of Skyline playoffs. The Knights finished with a 15-3 conference record and swept Old Westbury 12-0 and 11-3 in the regular season meeting.

#3 Mount Saint Mary College defeated #6 Old Westbury in the first round by a score of 9-1. The Knights scored two early runs in the first inning, before securing the lead with five runs in the fourth. Old Westbury scored the lone run in the fifth inning after Natalie Intrieri walked, Shannon Myles singled down the right field line, and Rosanna Cuttone followed with a single through the right side for the RBI.

The Old Westbury softball team will be returning 17 players from this year's roster, with expectations of returning to the post-season tournament next year under head coach Tom Pennino, assistant coach Chris McKoy, and pitching coach Taylor Webb. Key returning players are Natalie Intrieri and Alaina Reilly who were atop the team in hits with 19 and 18, respectively, and the team's RBI leader Rosanna Cuttone. Gianna DiLillo will be returning in the pitcher's circle; this season she led the team with a 4.60 ERA through 59.1 innings with 33 strikeouts.
