Men’s Basketball Defeated by CCNY

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball team took the floor in their home gym for the second time this season as they hosted the City College of New York Beavers. The Panthers were defeated by the Beavers with a final score of 58-81.

The Panthers came out fighting throughout the first half. At one point, the team cut the gap to just two points. Throughout the game, the Panthers struggled to get into a rhythm and hit their shots. The team shot the ball 33 percent from the floor throughout the night. The team also struggled to hit their three-point shots, converting on only six of 24 attempts.

Despite the shooting struggles for the team as a whole, Amadi Lee-Kane led the team in scoring with 18 points, as well as a steal, two assists, and six rebounds on the night. Lee-Kane nailed two of the six made tree-point shots for OW and was a force on both the offensive and defensive glass.

Jamari Williams also had another strong showing after being placed on last week's Skyline Conference Honor Roll. Williams finished the night with 14 points, two assists, and two rebounds. Additionally, Wiliams played a big role in the defensive performance from the Panthers with two steals and a block.

The Beavers managed to shoot 47 percent from the floor as well as 40 percent from field goal range throughout the game. CCNY capitalized off of a strong performance by their starter, Yassine Sakhi who led the night in scoring with 24 points as well as two steals, one block, five assists, and four boards. In addition to Sakhi, Ricardo Dixon played well for the Beavers, ending the night with 17 points, and six rebounds.

All in all, the Panthers fell short to the Beavers as their shooting struggles remained. The team will return to practice to regroup as they turn their attention to Friday night's road trip. The team will take on Messiah in search of their first win. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
