The Old Westbury baseball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader against Maritime on Saturday afternoon.
Game One: Old Westbury 6, Maritime 7
How it Happened
Maritime scored first with one run in the top of the third inning after a lead-off double and a single to score the run.
Old Westbury went scoreless until the fifth inning when they scored six runs to take the lead 6-1. Jaime Barrios led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Dominic Felicetti reached on a throwing error by the shortstop, which allowed Barrios to score. After Troy Emmanuel Walked, Jamal Ritter singled to left center to score Felicetti. Jacob Taormina walked to load the bases, and two batters later Oscar Fajardo hit a grand slam, his first home run of the season.
Maritime scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to trail by a score of 6-3. Justin Aramini entered the game with the save opportunity for Old Westbury in the seventh inning. After getting the first batter to foul out to right field, the next two batters hit a single and a double to score a run. After a walk to the next batter to put two runners on, and the score 6-4 in favor of Old Westbury, Maritime hit a three-run home run to take the lead.

- Jamal Ritter went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Game Two: Old Westbury 12, Maritime 5
How it Happened
Maritime scored two runs in the top of the second inning, before Old Westbury tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the third. Jacob Taormina led off the inning with a solo home run to left field. John Dell'Olio, Oscar Fajardo, and Nick Papageorge hit consecutive singles to load the bases. Jaime Barrios hit a sacrifice fly to score Dell'Olio.
In the fourth inning, Taormina hit a two RBI single to take the lead for Old Westbury 4-2. The Panthers scored another in the fifth and tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Taormina led off the inning with a triple, and scored on a single by Dell'Olio. Fajardo singled and Nick Papageorge walked to load the bases. Michael Petrucelly and Charlie Eisele hit back-to-back doubles to score two RBI each.
Maritime scored three runs in the seventh before Old Westbury added two more runs in the eighth inning. Petrucelly hit his second double of the game, and Aaron Castillo entered the game as a pinch runner. Eisele reached on an error on his sacrifice bunt to move Castillo to third base. Troy Emmanuel grounded into a double play, but Castillo was able to score on the play. Jamal Ritter reached base after being hit by a pitch and then stole second. Taormina hit for the cycle with a double to score Ritter.
