Men's Volleyball Falls to St. Joseph's-Long Island and Purchase on Saturday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's volleyball team was defeated in both games of Saturday's tri-match against the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's University-Long Island and the Panthers of Purchase College by three sets.
 
Match One- SUNY Old Westbury (0)- St. Joseph's-Long Island (3)
 
The Panthers struggled to fight against the Golden Eagles throughout the opening match of the tri-match. Through three sets, the Golden Eagles recorded 38 kills compared to the Panthers' 10. 
 
The Golden Eagles defeated the Panthers in three sets with final scores of 25-10, 25-9, and 25-9, respectively. 
 
For the Panthers, Anthony Moyett led the way again in kills with five. Moyett also had five digs. James Seraphin had three kills. Ashel Santos had two kills, four digs and a block. Kyle Singh-Gajadar led the team in assists with six. 
 
Match Three- SUNY Old Westbury (0) – Purchase College (3)
 
In the battle of the Panthers, Purchase was able to control Old Westbury fairly easily. Despite a few runs by OW, Purchase was in control for the entire match. 
 
Purchase finished the three sets with 41 kills compared to Old Westbury's 14. The Panthers of OW committed 10 more errors than Purchase. 
 
Purchase defeated OW in three sets with final scores of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-12, respectively. 
 
Anthony Moyett had eight kills, one ace, one block and eight digs. Ashel Santos recorded three kills, one ace, and a block. Kosta Anagnostou had a strong finish, notching nine assists and 11 digs. Thomas Albrecht, who filled in at libero, had two assists. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will remain at home and play host to the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College. The Skyline Conference match will take place in the Clark Center Gymnasium and is set to begin at 7 PM.
