Women’s Soccer Falls to CCNY in the Final Moments on Saturday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team played in a hard-fought rain battle against the Beavers of CCNY on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers were defeated by a final score of 2-1. 
 
The Beavers took the game from the Panthers in the final four minutes of the match after OW held a 1-0 lead for almost the entire game. 
 
The first goal of the game was scored by Old Westbury's Jocelyn Forseth who found the back of the net just 21 minutes into the match. 
 
The Panthers defensive efforts held strong as Jennifer Pasquariello led the charge and the Panthers held the Beavers to a scoreless first half. OW went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. 
 
In the second half., the Panthers maintained the same intensity leading to several strong possessions and opportunities. Unfortunately, the team could not add any more goal to grow their lead. 
 
With just over four minutes to go in the game, the Beavers scored a goal to tie the game after MacKenzie Moreno found the net of an assist by Gissell Gonzalez.
 
With the game even, the Beavers set themselves up for an opportunity to win the game off a corner kick on the near side. 
 
With just over a minute to play in the second half, the Beavers scored the game winning goal thanks to Maria Chartzoulakis. 
 
The Beavers held on to win the match by a final score of 2-1. 
 
For the Panthers, the team took a total of 11 shots with eight being on goal. 
 
Jocelyn Forseth took three shots with two of them being on goal and scored the Panthers' lone goal. Jaylyn Sanchez also had two shots on goal with four total shots in the game. 
 
In net, Kristen Gallagher had another strong outing in her first-year campaign. Gallagher finished the game with eight saves on 10 shots on goal. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will travel for their first road game of the season against the Pratt Institute on Tuesday, September 10. That game is scheduled to begin at 2 PM. Following that, the team will remain on the road for another non-conference game against York College. That game will take place on Wednesday, September 11 at 3 PM.
