Women’s Volleyball Downed by Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday Night

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball team was taken down by the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday. The Panthers were swept, 0-3.
 
Old Westbury drops to 4-8 overall on the season and 1-3 in Skyline Conference play.
 
The first set was the slowest of the night for the Panthers the team saw just three kills and 21 total attacks. As a unit, the Panthers recorded seven errors and had a negative hitting percentage. The Gryphons would go on to win the opening set, 25-10.
 
In the second set, the Panthers offense improved slightly as the team managed to record four kills and just two errors. OW fell early, 3-0 but responded with three straight points to tie the game. SLC went on a scoring run and took a lead that the Panthers were unable to overcome. Old Westbury fell in the second set, 13-25.
 
The third set would be the final of the night. The Panthers put together a strong attack with 28 total attacks and five kills as a team. Sarah Lawrence had 13 kills and just five errors. The Gryphons would go on to sweep the Panthers, taking the final set, 25-16 and winning the match, 3-0.
 
Stephanie Maser led the team with five kills, an ace, and a block. Kasey Coppola recorded three kills and a block. Nicole Zugnoni would finish with two aces and an assist. Katia Gomez finished the night with 10 assists, 10 digs and a block.
 
Next up, the Panthers will return home and host Albertus Magnus for a non-conference match on Thursday. The Panthers and Falcons will unite for a Dig Pink match. The action is set for 7 PM from the Clark Center Gymnasium.
