Men’s Soccer Drops Conference Match Against Farmingdale in Final Minutes on Wednesday

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. -  The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team was defeated by the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Wednesday. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Rams.
 
Old Westbury now sits at 3-6 overall on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
 
The Panthers would score the game's first goal thanks to Henrik Ropstad who headed it in at the 23:52 mark.
 
Farmingdale responded just about three minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.
 
The two sides went into halftime tied, 1-1.
 
Out of the break, the Panthers score the first goal of the second half thanks to Johan Gran who was assisted by Jeffery Baires.
 
Farmingdale would tie it once again with just over 72 minutes of play gone by.
 
With the two teams battling in the late moments, it would be Farmingdale who found the back of the net with just four minutes to play for the game winning goal.
 
The Rams held on to take down the Panthers 3-2.
 
Henrik Ropstad finished with a goal, five total shots and three on-target shots. Johan Gran recorded a goal, with two shots on-goal. Jeffery Baires recorded an assist. Isaiah Cardenas and Larstan LaRoche each took a shot on goal.
 
James Ackermann recorded five saves after seeing nine shots on goal and 19 total shots.
 
Next up, the Panthers will return to action on Saturday, October 4 as they host Maritime. Prior to that match, the team will celebrate their graduating senior student-athletes. Kickoff is set for 12 PM from Panther Park.
