Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Earns First Win of 2025-26

The SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball team won its first game of the 2025-26 season this afternoon from the Health & P.E. Complex on the campus of York University, 74-60.

Joel Ofori had a game-high 20 points and added eight rebounds, five blocks, four steals, and three assists. Imole Akinwale followed with 17 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor, to go with five boards. Jermaine King Jr. had a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists while adding five steals. Bradley Young matched Ofori's eight rebounds.

In the opening minutes, neither team was able to gain more than a two possession advantage, but an 11-2 run from the Panthers put them ahead 20-10 with 10 minutes to play in the opening half. The Cardinals worked the score back within one before back-to-back field goals put them in front 27-24 with three minutes on the clock. The score would be tied at 30 headed into the final minute of play before a foul shot from Ahmad Sackor gave Old Westbury an advantage headed into the second half.

Despite the Cardinals shooting 44 percent from the floor in the second half, the Panthers were able to capitalize on the team's mistakes, scoring 22 points off turnovers on the contest to help them to a double digit lead for the final 13 minutes of play.

Old Westbury returns to action on Tuesday, November 25 at 6:00 p.m. from Hunter College.
