The Od Westbury men's basketball team fell in the 2025-26 season opener at New York University, 87-49, yesterday from the John A Paulson Center in New York, New York.
The Panthers were led by 12 points and four assists from freshman
Jermaine King Jr. in his collegiate debut. Freshman
Imole Akinwale also reached double digits in his debut with 10 points and topped the box score with four steals. Defensively, sophomore
Joel Ofori put up six rebounds to go with three blocks while adding nine points in the effort.Â
Starting the season against the 2024-25 NCAA Division III Runner Ups in the Violets, Old Westbury had its work cut out from the opening jump. The team's exchanged three-pointers to open the contest, but a 12-point run opened up a double digit lead that the Panthers struggled to crawl out of for the remainder of the contest.Â
Old Westbury will be right back at it with a match up against Saint Joseph's College of Maine this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. from the Paulson Center.
