Women’s Soccer Fall to Farmingdale Despite Strong First Half Efforts

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team was defeated by the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams took the match, 5-0. 
 
Old Westbury now drops to 4-4 on the season and sits at 1-3 in conference play.
 
 The Panthers showed a strong intensity in the first half and managed to hold the Rams scoreless. That said. Farmingdale outshot the Panthers, 16-0. Kristen Gallagher recorded seven saves in the opening half to keep it a 0-0 game at halftime. 
 
In the second half, the Rams scored their first goal of the game quickly. The Rams found the back of the net just over three minutes into the match. 
 
The Rams scored three times between the 57:27 and 69:54-minute marks. The Rams would take a 4-0 lead. 
 
Farmingdale scored their fifth and final goal of the game with just about seven and a half minutes to play. 
 
The Rams would hold on and take the match, 5-0. 
 
The Panthers could not get off a shot against the Rams. In goal, Kristen Gallagher impressed as she recorded 14 saves after seeing a total of 36 shots from the Rams and 20 shots on-goal. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will remain at home and continue Skyline Conference play. The Panthers will host Maritime on Saturday, October 4. Prior to the match they will honor their senior student-athletes. The action is set to get underway from Panther Park at around 2:30 PM. This weekend is also Panther Pride Homecoming on SUNY Old Westbury's campus.
