Old Westbury, NY - The SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse returned to Panther Park on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference matchup against Mount Holyoke College. The Panthers were defeated by the Lyons, 17-5.
Ciana Kunen led Old Westbury offensively with three goals on five shots on goal, while Katia Maisonneuve added two goals on four shots on goal. The duo combined to score all five of the Panthers' goals in the contest.
Mount Holyoke was led by Emi Bisson, who finished with five goals and four assists for nine points. Molly McSharry added three goals and four assists, while Allison Del Sarto chipped in with two goals and one assist as the Lyons controlled the pace throughout the afternoon.
What went right for the Panthers
Despite the setback, Old Westbury showed a couple of positives as a team. The Panthers were efficient offensively, putting nine of their 13 shots on goal. Defensively, Old Westbury also forced eight caused turnovers, led by Stefany Donnelly's four. Jasmine Roldan added two caused turnovers, while Maisonneuve and Stephanie Velez each recorded one.
Donnelly also led the Panthers with five ground balls, while Kunen contributed two draw controls.
What's Next?
Old Westbury returns to action on Apr. 15 at 4:00 p.m. when the Panthers host Centenary University (New Jersey) at Panther Park. Wednesday's matchup will also serve as the team's Senior Game.
