OLD WESTBURY, NY – SUNY Old Westbury baseball junior pitcher Vinny Giambona added another major accomplishment to his historic 2026 season after being named the 2026 D3baseball.com Region 3 Pitcher of the Year while also earning First Team All-Region honors, as announced by D3baseball.com.
Giambona becomes one of the top pitchers recognized across all of Region 3 following a dominant campaign on the mound that helped lead the Panthers Baseball program throughout the 2026 season. His selection as Region 3 Pitcher of the Year highlights one of the strongest pitching performances in program history while further cementing his place among the top Division III pitchers in the country.
In addition to earning Region 3 Pitcher of the Year honors, Giambona was also selected to the D3baseball.com First Team All-Region squad after consistently delivering standout performances throughout the season against some of the top competition in the region.
Throughout the 2026 campaign, Giambona showcased his dominance on the mound with several impressive season-high performances, including an 11-strikeout outing against Mt. St. Vincent on April 11, while also recording a season-low one hit allowed against CCNY on April 1. Giambona also tossed a season-high seven innings against St. Joseph's Brooklyn on May 1 while recording eight strikeouts in his season debut against Lehman College on March 8.
Giambona's latest accolades continue what has been a memorable year for the Panthers baseball program, as SUNY Old Westbury continued to make its presence felt throughout Region 3 competition during the 2026 campaign.
