OLD WESTBURY, NY – Following the conclusion of the 2026 season, the SUNY Old Westbury baseball program earned major regional recognition as four Panthers received NCAA All-Region honors for their standout performances throughout the year.
Leading the way for SUNY Old Westbury was junior pitcher Vinny Giambona who earned NCAA First Team All-Region honors following one of his strongest pitching seasons for the Panther baseball program. Giambona established himself as one of the top pitchers throughout Region 3 after consistently dominating opposing hitters during the 2026 campaign.
Throughout the season, Giambona delivered several standout performances on the mound, including an 11-strikeout outing against Mt. St. Vincent on April 11 while also recording a season-low one hit allowed against CCNY on April 1. He additionally tossed a season-high seven innings against St. Joseph's Brooklyn on May 1 and struck out eight batters in his season debut against Lehman College on March 8.
Joining Giambona on the All-Region list was Sophomore JJ Palumbo who earned NCAA Second Team All-Region honors following an outstanding offensive campaign for the Panthers. Palumbo finished the 2026 season batting .422 while recording 46 hits, 28 runs scored, 13 RBIs, five doubles, one home run, and 14 walks across 30 games played. He additionally posted a .495 slugging percentage and .492 on-base percentage throughout the year.
Palumbo delivered several standout performances during the season, including a season-high five-hit outing against Manhattanville on April 24 while also recording a home run against St. Joseph's Brooklyn on May 1. His offensive consistency and ability to deliver in key moments helped establish him as one of the Panthers' most reliable hitters throughout the season while cementing his place among the top players in Region 3.
Junior Brandon Hernandez also collected NCAA Third Team All-Region honors after putting together a breakout season offensively for the Panthers. Hernandez finished the year batting .367 while recording 40 hits, 24 runs scored, 22 RBIs, 10 doubles, and 11 stolen bases across 32 games played. His season was highlighted by a four-hit performance against Manhattanville on April 24 along with a five-RBI outing against Yeshiva on April 29, showcasing his ability to impact games both offensively and on the basepaths.
Rounding out SUNY Old Westbury's regional selections was Junior Mike Tiseo who earned NCAA Third Team All-Region honors following another standout season for the Panthers. Tiseo's recognition further highlighted the overall depth and talent displayed by SUNY Old Westbury throughout the 2026 campaign as the Panthers continued to make their presence felt across Region 3 competition.
The Panthers' four NCAA All-Region selections cap off what was a memorable season for SUNY Old Westbury baseball, as the program continued to establish itself among the region's top Division III programs while showcasing some of the top individual talent across the country throughout the 2026 season.
