FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury baseball team saw its 2026 season come to a close on Saturday afternoon, dropping a Skyline Conference doubleheader to Farmingdale State College. The Panthers fell 7-4 in Game 1 before suffering a 6-5 loss in the finale.
GAME 1: Farmingdale State 7, Old Westbury 4
The Panthers were limited offensively in the opener but remained within striking distance throughout.
Mike Tiseo delivered the biggest swing of the game for Old Westbury, launching a home run while finishing with two runs scored and an RBI. Sean Maddi also crossed the plate for the Panthers, while Brandon Hernandez and Donny Whalen each drove in a run. JT Torres and James Reilly added hits as Old Westbury worked to generate offense.
Despite keeping the game close early, Farmingdale State capitalized on key opportunities to pull away and secure the 7-4 victory.
GAME 2: Farmingdale State 6, Old Westbury 5
Old Westbury showed resilience in the nightcap, rallying from an early deficit to take a late lead before Farmingdale State responded in the final innings.
Trailing 4-1 entering the sixth, the Panthers erupted for three runs to tie the game, highlighted by RBI singles from Brandon Hernandez and Mike Tiseo along with a bases-loaded walk drawn by Dean Pasolini.
Old Westbury took a 5-4 lead in the seventh inning on an RBI single from JJ Palumbo, putting the Panthers in position to force a split.
However, Farmingdale State answered in the bottom half and again in the ninth inning, scoring the go-ahead run to hand Old Westbury a 6-5 defeat in the season finale.
WHAT OLD WESTBURY DID WELL?
The Panthers showed strong fight and composure, particularly in Game 2, where they erased a multi-run deficit and briefly took the lead late.
Offensively, Old Westbury generated timely hitting in key moments, with contributions throughout the lineup. The team capitalized on scoring opportunities to stay competitive in both games.
Despite the results, Old Westbury remained resilient until the final out, reflecting the team's competitiveness and growth throughout the season.
