OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury Softball team lost a double-header to Skyline Conference
opponent, Farmingdale State on Sunday afternoon at the Jackie
Robinson Athletic Complex. Old Westbury drops to 4-8 in
league play and 14-12 overall while Farmingdale State moves to 8-2
in conference action and 21-9 on the season.
Panthers at the plate (Game 1): Nicole Rescigno
(1-for-4) led the Panthers with two runs batted in a tough game one
loss to Farmingdale State. Rescigno clubbed a double to left
field in the fourth inning to drive home Ashley Esposito (1-for-3)
and Crystal Rodriguez (1-for-3, RBI). Maria Canino (2-for-4)
was unable to knock in any Panthers as she singled and
doubled. Deborah Ciccarelli (1-for-4) and Angel Adamkiewicz
(1-for-2, 2B) each scored as both Traci Weeks (1-for-3) and Crystal
Rodriguez singled in one run each.
Rams at the plate (Game 1): Nicole Farber
(3-for-4, HR, 3 RBI) and Alexis Pennella (3-for-5) led the Rams to
victory with three hits and three runs scored apiece. Arielle
Morelli (2-for-5) came around to score three runs and drove in one
off a single in the four run sixth inning. Kim Ferraiolo
collected a pair of singles while Kristina Cirrillo (1-for-5) drove
in three Rams and came around to score one.
Panthers on the mound (Game 1): Deborah
Ciccarelli suffered the loss after going the distance with eight
strikeouts. Ciccarelli surrendered 11 runs (7 earned) on 12
hits while handing out three free passes.
Rams on the mound (Game 1): Heather Buckshaw
earned the complete game victory while allowing four earned runs on
eight hits. Buckshaw struck out seven panthers and gave out
three walks.
Game notes (Game 1): Old Westbury was out-hit,
12-8 including a 4-3 advantage in the extra base hits
department. On the base path, Old Westbury stranded six
Panthers as Farmingdale State had one stolen base and left nine
Rams on base. In the field, Old Westbury committed five
errors while Farmingdale State turned one double-play. On the
mound, Old Westbury struck out eight Rams and walked three as
Farmingdale State had seven strikeouts and three walks.
Panthers at the plate (Game 2): Olga Carries
(1-for-1) and Huriye Donuk (1-for-2) led the Panthers in the series
finale against Farmingdale State. Carries reached on a single
in the fourth inning and later scored as Donuk singled to left for
the lone Panther run. Ashley Esposito (1-for-1), Traci Weeks
(1-for-2) ad Crystal Rodriguez (1-for-2) each reached on singles.
Rams at the plate (Game 2): Nicole Farber
(1-for-2) drove in five Rams to lead Farmingdale to the sweep in
the series finale over the Panthers. Farber lifted a three
run home run over the left field fence in the fifth inning to drive
around Ariellie Morelli (1-for-2, 2 R's) and Alexis Pennella
(2-for-3, 2B, 3 R's, 2 RBI). Kristina Cirillo (2-for-4) hit a
pair of singles to drive in two and score two runs as Kim Ferraiolo
(3-for-3, 2 R's, RBI) doubled Ciccillo home in the second
inning. Erin Dodge (2-for-4) connected on two doubles to
drive in three Rams and crossed the plate for two scores while
Chrisi Lake (2-for-3, 2 RBI) scored two runs and drove in
two.
Panthers on the mound (Game 2): Deborah
Ciccarelli lasted one and one third innings in the circle after she
was charged with seven earned runs on five hits in a losing
effort. Ciccarelli struck out one and walked one before
Angela Adamkiewicz came in for relief work over the final three and
two third innings. Adamkiewicz gave up 10 earned runs (11
runs) on nine hits while handing out three walks.
Rams on the mound (Game 2): Nicole Farber
tossed five innings to earn the victory. Farber gave up one
earned run on five hits as she sat down five Panthers on strikes
and walked one.
Game notes (Game 2): Old Westbury was held to
five hits as Farmingdale State tallied 14, including a 5-0
advantage in the extra base hits department. On the base
path, Old Westbury stranded five Panthers as Farmingdale State left
two Rams on base. In the field, Old Westbury had four errors
and Farmingdale had zero. On the mound, Old Westbury struck
out one and walked four while Farmingdale State rang up five
Panthers on strikes and walked one.
Old Westbury returns to the diamond for Senior Night on
Saturday, April 26th to host Skyline Conference opponent,
Polytechnic University for a double-header. First pitch is
