Old Westbury at Yeshiva Boxscore

YONKERS, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team posted a shut out victory Wednesday evening defeating the Yeshiva University Maccabees 11-0 on the road at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.  Today's win is the second shutout this season and starts the Panthers off to a 1-0 start on the 2009 Skyline Conference slate.  The victory also broke five team single-game records and broke two individual single-game records.

Today's 11 goals is a new program record for most team goals scored in a single match (8-0 vs. Saint Elizabeth Sept. 5, 2009).  The seven goals in the second period breaks the most team goals scored in the second half (4 vs. Yeshiva Sept. 11, 2008) in addition to setting a program record with two-hat tricks in a single game.  The Old Westbury defense broke a team single-game record by not allowing Yeshiva a single shot (4- vs. Yeshiva Sept. 11, 2008 and again CCNY Nov. 1, 2008)

Today's match featured three Panthers registering multiple goals (2 vs. CCNY Nov. 1, 2008 and again vs. Saint Elizabeth Sept. 5, 2009).  Sophomore Cassandra Esposito (Valley Stream, N.Y.) netted five goals and broke a program record for individual goals scored in a single-game (Esposito 4 goals vs. CCNY Nov. 1, 2008). Esposito also added 11 points, a new single-game record, (9 at Saint Elizabeth Sept. 5, 2009)

Old Westbury got on the board at the 2:38 mark when senior Courtney Dixon (Baldwin, N.Y.) fired a corner kick to classmate Jennifer Campisi (Commack, N.Y.) for her second goal of the season.  It wasn't until the 20:15 mark when Dixon hooked up with Campisi off a corner kick for her second score of the game, giving Old Westbury a two goal advantage.  Dixon got in the scoring mix at the 37:02 mark and later scored at the 48:14 mark off a pass from Campisi, to record her third career multi-goal game.  Old Westbury continued to dominate when Cassandra Esposito scored a pair of goals in the 42nd minute (assisted by Campisi) and the 48th minute in addition to netting three more goals in the 67th, 70th and 79th minute to register her sixth career hat trick.   Campisi received a pass from Esposito in the 65th minute to score her third goal of match (1st career hat trick) and second career multi-goal game.  Junior Tiffany Lester (Bellport, N.Y.) closed out the scoring with a her first goal of the season at the 84:27 mark to give Old Westbury a commanding 11-0 advantage.

Old Westbury keeper Jennifer Kupfer notched 67 minutes in between the pipes and head coach Craig Newman brought in junior Melissa Romero (Huntington, N.Y.) for the final 23 minutes.

For Yeshiva, the Maccabees made 12 total saves including four saves in the first period by senior Odelia Rosenberg (Paramus, N.J.) and seven in the second period by sophomore Anna Sce (Teaneck, N.J.) in addition to one team save.

Old Westbury outshot Yeshiva in each period and 31-0 for the match.  Old Westbury put up 12 shots in the first period and tallied 19 more in the second stanza.  Old Westbury also won the corners battle with 13 total corners taken and were called off sides eight times.
