JAMAICA, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's swimming team could not overcome a strong showing from non-conference opponents, York College and United States Merchant Marine Academy Thursday evening, as they suffered a 50-14 and 51-20 setback, respectively in Jamaica, New York.
The Panthers, who fell to 1-4 on the year, posted two event victories on the day, with sophomore
Gregory Mertens (Hicksville, NY) and junior
Stephen Paul (Staten Island, NY) leading the way with victories in the 100 free and 100 breast. Mertens finished the 100 free in 1:23.00 and Paul grabbed the wall at 1:39.10 in the 100 breast.
Old Westbury will be back in the pool on Thursday, January 28th when they take on the College of Staten Island Dolphins at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center.
