Swimming competes at Mount Saint Mary Skyline Quad-Meet

NEWBURGH, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming returned to the pool Saturday afternoon for a Skyline Conference road quad-meet against the Purchase College Panthers, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears and the hosts Mount Saint Mary College Knights inside Kaplan Center Pool in Newburgh, New York. The men's squad suffered setbacks to Purchase (102-90) and the Knights (110-71) while the women fell to Purchase (126-48), the Bears (115-49) and Mount Saint Mary (155-29).

Leading the way on the men's side was Joseph Malone, who touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (59.37) and 50-yard butterfly (27.74). Daniel McCartney captured victory in the 50-yard breaststroke (31.84) and placed second in the 100-yard individual medley (1:00.86). Daniel Grinchenko finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (28.89) and third in the 50-yard backstroke (35.38). Timothy Probst placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:30.04) and eighth in the 100-yard individual medley (1:17.38). Lorenzo Cusumano followed with a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:33.75) and sixth-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke (37.01). Jassell Mateo placed seventh in the 50-yard breaststroke (48.73) and competed in the 50-yard freestyle (35.42). Tilyk Bonner placed seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (45.84) while Elijah Lee competed in the 50-yard freestyle (33.65).

The 200-yard medley relay squad of Cusumano, McCartney, Malone and Grinchenko placed second (2:03.05) to open the meet. To conclude the meet, McCartney, Malone, Probst and Grinchenko combined to finish in second-place in a time of 4:00.00.

On the women's side, Mia Hidalgo placed third in the 50-yard breaststroke (39.71) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.65) along with a seventh-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley (1:17.84). Adelyn Veras finished in fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly (1:28.83) and sixth in the 50-yard butterfly (35.75). Dina Terki took sixth-place in the 50-yard backstroke (44.76) and eighth-place in the 100-yard backstroke (2:07.03). Diana Castellanos placed 10th in the 50-yard freestyle (39.50) while Rebecca Warshauer finished in 11th-place in the 50-yard freestyle (41.50)

Terki, Hidalgo, Veras and Warshauer opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (2:41.64) as Castellanos, Warshauer, Terki and Veras finished in fifth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay (5:38.82) to close out the meet.

Fans are encouraged to help less fortunate children this holiday season by contributing a new, unwrapped toy during our ninth-annual Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Toys for Tots drive. Fans can drop donations in the marked "Toys for Tots" bin at the entrance to Clark Athletic Center prior to each December home game. Admission is $3 or a new, unwrapped toy, and students are free with school ID.
