MOUNT SAINT MARY DEFEATS MEN’S SWIMMING

NEWBURGH, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) –
SUNY College at Old Westbury men's swimming registered victories by sophomore Gregory Mertens (Hicksville, NY) and junior Ronald Ott (Garden City Park, NY), but it wasn't enough as the Panthers dropped a Skyline Conference verdict against the Mount Saint Mary Blue Knights, 97-48, at the Elaine and William Kaplan Center Pool on Saturday afternoon. 

Ronald Ott posted a 10:01.66 to lead the Panthers in the 500 free and grabbed the wall second in 2:59.24 in the 200 free event. Gregory Mertens earned a win in the 100 fly by completing the event in 1:08.27. He also helped the Panthers to second place finished in the 200 medley and 200 free relays. Junior Stephen Paul (Staten Island, NY) placed second in the 50 free in 29.38. 

Freshman Hussam Bouayach posted a second place effort in the 100 free with a time of 1:21.56 while classmate Sean Challenger (Spring Valley, NY) followed in third at 1:23.74.
