OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The 2010-11 SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming teams are poised for a breakout year boasting their largest rosters in program history with ten newcomers on the men's squad and 13 on the women's side. Last season Amanda Olsson-Boman locked up All-Skyline Second-Team after finishing second in the 200 Butterfly while the men's 400 Freestyle Relay squad of Sean Challenger, Gregory Mertens, Stephen Paul and Fleeton Wells placed second to claim All-Skyline Second-Team.

Men's swimming saw a third place finish and the women's squad placed sixth with their small rosters at the 2010 Skyline Conference Championship. The men's team competed with only nine swimmers and the women competed with ten.

This season, Old Westbury's numbers have grown. The women's roster will boast 19 talented swimmers and the men's roster have increased to 14 swimmers. Senior Amanda Olsson-Boman will lead the talented group of women's swimmers and newcomers sophomore Michael Gavrilchin and freshman Cameron Russo will headline the men's squad. Senior Stephen Paul became an impact swimmer during his junior year and is expected to be a strong contributor again. Paul, a Second-Team All-Skyline selection in the 400 Freestyle Relay, was also a member of the third place 200 Medley Relay team at the Skyline Championship. He also touched the wall fifth at the Skyline Championship in the 100 Breaststroke.

Other men's returners include Regis Burton, Gregory Mertens and Nicholous Perdomo while Karen Camargo, Leeanna Ladouceur, Marissa Smith, Melissa Spleen and Inez Zuska return for the women's squad.

Expectations are high for head coach Sigitas Rudokas. With a solid core of seniors providing veteran leadership, the Panthers will seek significant contributions from each class in its 2010-11 campaign.

OW opens the season November 20 at conference foe, Mount Saint Mary. The Panthers will opener at home on November 23 on the women's side against the St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles while the men will host the York Cardinals on November 30. Old Westbury will also host the Skyline Conference Championship on February 5 at the Old Westbury Aquatic Center.
