PURCHASE, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming teams lost a tough Skyline Conference meet Tuesday night to Purchase. Men's swimming lost 122-64 and on the women's side, OW fell 106-55.
Cameron Russo had an excellent effort in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly events, earning first place in both with times of 25.34 and 1:03.79, respectively. His time in the 100 Butterfly was his best this season, shattering his time of 1:05.28 against Brooklyn (Dec. 4). Russo was not alone in first-place finishes in the lanes.
Stephen Paul finished first in the 100 Breaststroke with OW's top time of the season at 1:14.53.
Luis Montoya touched the wall second in the 500 Freestyle, clocking OW's best time of the season in 8:03.68.
Meanwhile in the relays,
Regis Burton,
Morgan Miller,
Stephen Paul and
Kulwinder Singh teamed up to capture first place-honors in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:13.09. In the 200 Medley Relay, OW posted their best time of the season at 2:11.05 with the help of
Hugh Eisele,
Luis Montoya,
Stephen Paul and
Cameron Russo that landed the squad in second place.
On the women's side,
Marissa Smith (500 Freestyle – 10:26.35) and
Alex Heaney (100 Breaststroke – 1:53.34) both pulled out first-place times in their individual events. Christa Foershner,
Alex Heaney,
Samantha Siegler and
Kristyn-Marie Ceaser combined for a first-place finish at 2:30.27 in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pool on Thursday (Dec. 9), taking on the Maritime Privateers in a Skyline Conference dual meet at the Old Westbury Aquatic Center. Race time is set for 7 p.m. in Old Westbury, New York.
