WOMEN'S RESULTS
OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up their 2010 calendar year schedule on Thursday in a Skyline Conference dual against the Maritime Privateers at the Old Westbury Aquatic Center. Both the men's and women's teams gave their best, but fell 137-64 and 124-54, respectively.
Sophomore
Michael Gavrilchin and freshman
Cameron Russo spearheaded Old Westbury's efforts on the men's side as eached posted multiple victories on the evening. Gavrilchin swam to victory in the 200 IM (2:11.23), 100 Butterfly (54.18) and 10 Backstroke (59.41). Russo won the 100 Freestyle (55.15) and claimed second in the 50 Freestyle (23.97).
Stephen Paul and
Nicholous Perdomo both finished second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:15.54) and 200 Freestyle (2:27.88), respectively.
Christa Foershner earned OW's lone victory on the women's side, touching the wall 1:27.38 in the 100 Backstroke. Foershner (100 Butterfly - 1:31.21),
Marissa Smith (200 Freestyle – 3:30.64; 500 Freestyle – 10:13.35),
Samantha Siegler (50 Freestyle – 32.19) and
Leeanna Ladouceur (1000 Freestyle – 19:57.31) all earned second place finishes in their respective events.
U.S. MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY AND YORK UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pool on Thursday (Jan. 20), in Kings Point, New York taking on the United States Merchant Marine Academy and York Cardinals. Race time is set for 6 p.m. from the O'Hara Hall Pool.
