Kristopher Afum (Bronx, NY) knocked down 8-of-12 from the field on his way to a career-high 23 points in the Panthers' 92-80 victory over the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins in Skyline Conference action on Wednesday night at the Clark Athletic Center. The win improved Old Westbury to 14-5 overall and 12-2 in conference action while Mount Saint Vincent falls to 7-11 on the season and 4-10 against the Skyline.
The Panthers led 56-33 at the half and extended the lead to 60-33 over the first 1:14 on the second half. Mount Saint Vincent responded with a 17-2 run, capped off by a three-pointer by junior Dino Johnson (Amsterdam, NY) with 14:37 remaining to bring the Dolphins within 12, 62-50. Mount Saint Vincent chopped the deficit down to as many as eight, 72-64 with 6:23 off a three-pointer by freshman Filipp Bochkov (Brooklyn, NY). Old Westbury outscored Mount Saint Vincent 20-16 to close out the game en route to a 92-80 victory.

Jason Kondra (East Syracuse, NY) followed with 18 points each. Prosper hit 8-of-14 from the field, blocked three shots and pulled down 20 rebounds, one short of tying his career-high that was set vs. Bard on Jan. 10, 2009. Kondra's 18 points were a career-best, landing 4-of-6 from the field and 8-of-10 from the stripe to go with eight rebounds, five assists and two steals off the bench. Shane DeNully (Bronx, NY) handed out a game-high 12 assists in addition to eight points, five rebounds and three steals. Freshman

Dino Johnson paced the Dolphins with 15 points and three steals. Sophomore Cody Gauvard (Rockaway Park, NY) added 13 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Old Westbury grabbed a season-high 54 rebounds, outrebounding Mount Saint Vincent 54-34, including 16-11 off the offensive glass. Those 16 offensive rebounds for Old Westbury were turned into 17 second chance points. The Panthers also outshot the Dolphins 48.6 percent (35-of-72) to 37.7 percent (29-of-77) from inside the arc and 80 percent (16-of-20) to 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the free throw line. Mount Saint Vincent sank 7-of-29 from beyond the arc (24.1%) compared to 6-of-17 (35.3%) for Old Westbury. Old Westbury's defense forced 15 turnovers, leading to 17 points while Mount Saint Vincent scored 15 points off 24 Panther miscues.
