BRONX, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury earned close decisions in both the men's and women's non-conference dual meets on the road against the Lehman Lighting in the Bronx, New York. The Lightning men won by a 99-81 count, while the women's meet was won by Lehman 71-64.
On the men's side, Old Westbury's
Michael Gavrilchin was a double-winner, claiming victories in the 200 IM in 2:09.20 and 100 backstroke in 1:01.78 while
Cameron Russo touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle at 2:04.90. OW also claimed first place in both relays as Gavrilchin, Stephan Paul, Russo and
Nicholous Perdomo teamed up to finish in 1:54.43 in the 200 medley relay. The Panthers wrapped up the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay with a winning effort of
Chong Guo,
Morgan Miller,
Luis Montoya and
Jonathan Rosado finishing in 2:19.60.
Alyssa Clancy,
Christa Foerschner and
Leeanna Ladouceur were event winners in the women's dual meet. Clancy won the 50 freestyle in 37.05 followed by
Amanda Azpiri in second place. Foerschner took home the victory in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:34.43 while Ladouceur conquered top finish in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 9:24.81. Old Westbury also grabbed first place in the 200 freestyle relay as
Amanda Azpiri,
Karen Camargo,
Alyssa Clancy and
Marissa Smith combined to grab the wall at 2:28.58.
STATEN ISLAND DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pool on Tuesday (Jan. 25), in the Old Westbury, New York taking on the Staten Island Dolphins. Race time is set for 7 p.m. from the Old Westbury Aquatic Center.
