OLD WESTBURY AND BROOKLYN SPLIT SWIMMING DUAL MEET

Ricky Damiano, Kareem Bryan, Lydia Coleman and Janet Marmol each claimed a pair of individual victories

BROOKLYN, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming team split a dual meet at Brooklyn on Saturday at West Quad Center.  The Panther men secured a 116-76 decision, while the Panther women dropped a 98-81 verdict.  Old Westbury men improve to 3-2 with their third straight win while the women fell to 2-4 on the year. 

Ricky Damiano and Kareem Bryan had a hand in six of Old Westbury's nine wins on the men's side as the Panthers rolled past the Bulldogs.  Damiano teamed with Bryan Woodhead, Stephen Paul and Cameron Russo to win the 200 medley relay in a clocking time of 1:49.12.  Old Westbury claimed the 400 freestyle relay in 3:50.99 as Bryan combined with Woodhead, Thomas Mauro and Russo to capture the relay victory.  

Individually, Damiano and Bryan each registered a pair of victories.  Damiano claimed top honors in the 200 IM (2:22.57) and 100 freestyle (53.85) while Bryan secured the top-times in the 200 freestyle (2:20.01) and 100 butterfly (1:04.81).  Cameron Russo led the way for the Panthers in sprints, taking first place in the 50 freestyle in 23.09.  Bryan Woodhead earned the 100 backstroke victory with a time of 56.43 while Stephen Paul touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.71.   

Janet Marmol recorded a pair of top-finishes, winning the 200 IM (2:35.23) and 100 breaststroke (1:23.03) events.  Lydia Coleman added a pair of individual triumphs in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, finishing in 28.19 and 1:03.33, respectively. 

Marmol contributed to a third OW victory when she teamed with Hayley McGinn, Sally Chrayde and Amanda Azpiri to take home the 400 freestyle relay win in 4:49.37. 

ECAC OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury swimming returns to the pool for the ECAC Open Championships in East Meadow, New York from December 2-4 from the Nassau County Aquatics Center.
