GARDEN CITY, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming teams opened up the 2011-12 season against the Adelphi Panthers from on Tuesday evening in Garden City, New York. The men's squad fell 51-42 while Adelphi topped the women 61-25.
Stephen Paul,
Bryan Woodhead and
Thomas Mauro, led Old Westbury with a first place finishes. Paul won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.51. Woodhead touched the wall in 22.12 in the 50 freestyle while Mauro clocked a time of 6:58.01 in the 500 freestyle. Woodhead, Paul, Ricky Damaino and
Cameron Russo teamed up to win the 400 medley relay in 4:02.66. Old Westbury also recorded a victory in the 400 freestyle relay as Russo,
Kareem Bryan, Damaino and Woodhead clocking a winning time of 3:34.78.
On the women's side,
Janet Marmol and
Leeanna Ladouceur paced Old Westbury with victories in the 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle, respectively. Marmol swam to a first place finish with a time of 1:20.04 and Ladouceur clocked a finish time of 10:21.27.
MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pool on Thursday (Nov. 10), in Throggs Neck, New York for a Skyline Conference opener against the Maritime Privateers. Race time is set for 6 p.m.
