OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team routed the St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles 88-71 in a Skyline Conference showdown Monday evening from the Clark Athletic Center. The win improves Old Westbury to 10-13 on the season an 9-9 against the Skyline Conference while the Golden Eagles move to 19-4 overall and a 15-3 tally in conference action.
Old Westbury came out firing on all cylinders in the opening moments, hitting its first five shots of the game to go up 13-2 with 17:26 remaining on the first half clock. After a slow start for the opening minutes, St. Joseph's-L.I. responded with a 27-10 run from 16:57 to 7:56 to go up 29-23. Old Westbury outscored the visitors 1409 over the final 7:34 to head into the locker room down, 38-37.

Bernard Tomlin ignited a fire in his Panthers during intermission and had them roar out of the half time gates, knocking down its first three shots to take a 43-42 lead. After three consecutive lead changes, OW's
Frantz Granjean converted a three-point play with 15:29 left on the clock to give his team the lead for good. Granjean followed with a jumper as St. Joseph's-L.I. countered with a jumper by Olivier Laurent at 13:53. From there, Old Westbury used a 38-22 run from 15:06 to the conclusion of the game to take a 17 point lead en route to an 88-71 victory.
Frantz Granjean finished the night with his 13th career double-double (9th of season) combining 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field to go with 17 rebounds (tied career-high), five assists (tied career-high) and two blocked shots. Three other Panthers joined him in double figures.
Jamal Little led the way with 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor.
Lester Prosper used 15 points and 13 rebounds to register his 16th double-double of the season in addition to a pair of swats.
Andre Martin sparked the Panthers off the bench with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists two steals and a block.
Tymel Ambrose pulled down a career-high nine boards to go with six assists while
Matthew Duffy distributed five helpers.
Olivier Laurent paced St. Joseph's-L.I. with 2 5 points in defeat. Trey Black (14 points), Steve Velazquez (11 points) and Vincent Russo (10 points) joined Laurent in the double digit scoring column.
Old Westbury tied a season best rebounding margin of +24, out-rebounding St. Joseph's –L.I. 47-23, including 16-9 off the offensive glass, resulting in 19 second chance points. It was the third consecutive game that Old Westbury shot above 50 percent from the field, finishing at 54 percent compared to SJC-L.I., who hit 34.4 percent from the floor. OW also hit 23-of-23 from the free-throw stripe (87 percent) and the Golden Eagles knocked down 17-of-24 (70.8 percent). In the dominating effort, Old Westbury scored 52 points in the paint and got 21 points from the bench.
