LESTER PROSPER, FRANTZ GRANJEAN NAMED ALL-MET MEN’S BASKETBALL

Prosper and Granjean to be honored Tuesday (Apr. 26) in 78th NIT/MBWA College Awards

NEW YORK, NY
(www.oldwestburypanthers.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury seniors Lester Prosper and Frantz Granjean have been named to the 2010-11 All-Met Division III Men's Basketball First and Third teams, respectively. Prosper and Granjean will be honored on Tuesday, April 26th at the 78th NIT/MBWA college awards from the Westchester Marriot in Tarrytown, New York.

Lester Prosper was also named Second Team All-Region member of the NABC, ECAC and D3hoops.com in addition to First Team All-Skyline Conference during his senior year. Prosper a product of Bellmore, New York, averaged 19.6 points (43rd in nation), 13.0 rebounds (4th in nation) and 3.5 blocked shots (5th in nation). He also ranked fifth in the nation with 20 double-doubles during his senior year. Prosper connected at a rate of 50.7 percent from the field and 83.9 percent (61st in nation) from the free-throw line.

He also collected a pair of Skyline Conference Player of the Week awards and was named to the Weekly Honor Roll on nine occasions (Nov. 29, Dec. 6, Jan. 3, Jan. 10, Jan. 24, Jan. 31, Feb. 14, Feb. 14, Feb. 28).

A three-time All-Skyline Conference honoree, Prosper had one of the most decorated careers of any player to wear a Old Westbury uniform as he finished his four year career with 1,479 points, 1,016 rebounds and 251 blocked shots. On January 26, 2008, he posted a rare triple-double combining 18 points, 13 rebounds and 14 blocked shots in OW's 73-71 win over Mount Saint Mary.

Prosper scored eight points in representing Old Westbury as a member of the East All-Stars March 19 at the 2011 NABC Reese's Division III College All-Star Game. The West defeated the East 92-81.

Granjean, who has earned league honors for the first time, averaged 16.6 points (ranked 6th), 8.6 rebounds (ranked 4th), 3.78 offensive rebounds (ranked 3rd), 4.85 defensive rebounds (ranked 8th) and .78 blocked shots (ranked 11th) while shooting 51.5 percent from the field (ranked 8th) and 72 percent from the free-throw line (ranked 15th). One of the more explosive scorers in the Skyline, Granjean tallied 20 or more points in 12 games.

The Brooklyn, New York product also posted 12 double-doubles including a career-high 34 points against Farmingdale State (Feb. 22) and 17 rebounds versus Farmingdale State (Jan. 6), St. Joseph's-L.I. (Feb. 14) and Bard (Feb. 19). Granjean was named Skyline Player of the Week on February 7 and was cited on the Weekly Honor Roll on December 13 and February 28.

Prosper joins Jonathan Jones (Kean), Marvin Billups (Purchase). Marcel Esonqune (York), DaQuan Brooks (Western Connecticut), Pedro Burgos (Rutgers-Newark) and Ahmad Hassan (Ramapo) as All-Met First-Team selections.

Second-Team consists of Chris Jimenez (St. Joseph's-L.I.), Giovanni Hurley (Maritime), Jordan Young (Staten Island), Andy Stein (NYU), Andrew August (Montclair) and Asmar Capers (Drew). Frantz Granjean represented Old Westbury in the Third Team to go along with the likes of Olivier Laurant (St. Joseph's-L.I.), Nathaniel Young(NYC Tech), Chris Beauchamp (Baruch) and Jovan Deare (Medgar Evers).
Kean's Jonathan Jones took home the All-Met Division III Player of the Year award while Bob Campbell of Western Connecticut and Chuck McBreen of Ramapo shared Co-Coach of the Year honors.
