The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team fell to the Hartwick Hawks, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon in the Panthers' season opening game at the eighth annual Erinn K. Bozman Memorial Cup from Elmore Field in Oneonta, New York. Old Westbury will face the Utica PIONEERS tomorrow at 4 p.m.  Freshman Jordan Schildt scored her first career goal late in the first half, but it was not enough as the Hawks held on for the win on their home grass.

The Hawks jumped on the Panthers early as Blaire Hooper scored her first of three goals of the game just 12 minutes in, burying a shot in the right corner past Old Westbury keeper Caitlin Thomas. Kate Schild assisted on Hooper's initial goal. Hooper was at it again in the 35th minute when she put home her second goal to double Hartwick's lead. Old Westbury cut the deficit in half in the 44th minute when Jordan Schildt came away with a scrambled ball and blasted it past Hartwick keeper Hope Brown into the back of the net.

Hartwick responded in the second with a score in the 53rd minute by Cristina Sicari from Kate Schild on Old Westbury goalie Heather Grosso. Hooper completed her hatrick in the 74th minute, finding the back of the net out of Grosso's reach.

Hartwick outshot Old Westbury, 17-15, including an 11-10 edge in shots on goal. Hartwick also had six corner kicks to Old Westbury's one. Old Westbury goalie #Caitlin Thomas3 made one save and let up two goals in the first half while Heather Grosso made five stops and gave up two goals in the second half. Hope Brown surrendered Old Westbury's lone goal in the first half while making one save and Teagan Waddingham registered nine save in the second half.

The game marked the official debut for several Old Westbury players. Victoria Dehel, Kassandra Franco, Heather Grosso, Marissa Guide, Stephanie Maybie, Jordan Schildt, Caitlin Thomas, Alyson Wesley and Morgan Zuhoski all saw their first career action in a Panther uniform.
