Meet Results

THROGGS NECK, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury swimming teams dropped their Skyline Conference opening meet on the road to the Maritime Privateers, Tuesday evening from Riesenberg Hall Pool.   

The women's team (0-2, 0-1 Skyline) posted a pair of wins on the evening in a 133-59 loss to Maritime (2-2, 1-1 Skyline).  Lydia Coleman led Old Westbury with victories in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle races, posting winning times of 27.62 and 1:01.58, respectively.  Rachel Heath, Melanie Barone, Jennifer Castillo and Gabriella Sparaco teamed up to capture second place in the 200 medley relay.  Old Westbury closed out the meet by finishing second in the 200 freestyle relay as Janet Marmol, Castillo, Hayley McGinn and Coleman combined for a finish time of 2:04.28.

The men's team (1-1, 0-1 Skyline) collected four first place finishes in a 134-71 loss to the Privateers (4-0, 2-0 Skyline).  Bryan Woodhead and Everett Vasquez each accounted for a pair of Panther victories.  Woodhead was victorious in the 50 freestyle (22.52) and 100 butterfly (55.63) events while Vasquez won the 200 IM (2:07.23) and 100 freestyle (50.95) races.  In relay action, Old Westbury finished third in both the 200 medley relay (2:00.68 – Thomas Mauro, William Hawkins, Kareem Bryan, Carl Nowicki) and 200 freestyle relay (1:40.49 – Cameron Russo, Tim Rice, Bryan, Ricky Damiano) races. 

ECAC PRE-SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the
pool for the ECAC Pre-Season Championships from November 30 to December 1 in East Meadow, New York from the Nassau County Aquatice Center.
