www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team swept past the Maritime Privateers on Friday evening with 21-8 and 11-2 Skyline Conference road victories. Old Westbury (26-9) improves to 12-4 in conference action while Maritime (16-15) dropped to 6-10.
Old Westbury jumped out to an early 4-0 first inning lead off the power of
Anthony Orsano's sacrifice fly that scored
Paul Valerio for the games initial run. Three batters later,
Christopher DeGennaro laced a two-run single to right field and scored when
Pat Amato delivered an RBI double to make it 4-0.
Brian Reutter and Orsano went back-to-back on solo homers for a 6-0 lead in the second. In the third, Amato drilled a two-run double to center field and two batters later
Paul Valerio clubbed a two-run homer, his first of the season, proving to be the eventual game-winning runs, making it a 10-2 game. Old Westbury tacked on eight more runs in the seventh as Orsano added a two-run homer while Reutter had a pair of doubles, driving in two in the inning.
Paul Valerio (4-5, 3 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB) registered a game-high four hits and
Anthony Orsano (3-4, 2-HR, 6 RBI, 2 R) clubbed a pair of homers and drove in a career-high six runs to pace Old Westbury.
Brian Reutter (3-4, HR, 3 RBI, 5 R, 2 SB) added three hits, three RBI's and five runs scored while
Pat Amato finished with a 3-for-4 game at the plate, driving in four and scoring two. Ed Martinez (1-3) led Maritime with four RBI's.
Ryan Bresnahan (5-2) worked four innings in relief of starter
Tim Walsh (3 IP, 7 R, 8 H, 2 BB, 2 K's), striking out four Maritime hitters over four innings while scattering four hits and one walk, leading to one run. Trevor Cannella (4-3) took Maritime's loss, getting tapped for 13 runs (nine earned) off 11 hits and six walks over 4.1 innings.
In the finale,
Benjamin Farias plated home
Christopher DeGennaro for the games initial run in the second inning.
Blake Barbeito followed with a run scoring single, stole second and advanced to third as Farias crossed the plate off a passed ball for the game winning run.
Brian Reutter then stepped up to the plate and delivered a run scoring single, followed by
Anthony Orsano's two-run homer to make it 6-0 at the end of two innings. In the fourth, Orsano drove a solo home run over the right field fence and two batters later,
Christopher DeGennaro homered down the right field line to give Old Westbury an 11-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth.
Anthony Orsano's pair of home runs in a 2-3 game at the plate led four other Old Westbury hitters that registered multi-hit games. Orsano leads the team with seven homers and
Christopher DeGennaro banged out his second big fly of the season. Jonathan Proscia posted a 2-for-3 game at the plate to lead Maritime.

Chris Sanabria remained perfect on the season, striking out six over five innings, allowing one run off two hits and four walks to improve to 3-0. Christopher Myers (5-2) was strapped with Maritime's loss, surrendering 11 runs off 11 hits in 3.2 innings.
