(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming teams traveled to O'Hara Pool in Kings Point, New York to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners and the York Cardinals Thursday evening.  Against York, the women came away with a 57-22 victory while the men earned a 54-32 victory.  Meanwhile against the Mariners, the women lost 58-37 and the men fell 61-41. 

After winning the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 27:04 and finishing first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.75), Sandi Woodhead's 20-race dual meet win streak ended when she captured second-place in the 100-yard freestyle event in 1:03.74.  Woodhead now stands at 20-1 to start her career in dual meet competition.  Jacquin Chiriguayo also sparked the Panther women with second place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (7:33.99) and 1,000-yard freestyle (16:01.83) races.  Chiriguayo also teamed up with Hayley McGinn, Melanie Barone and Rachel Heath to earn second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:17.83).

On the men's side, Bryan Woodhead posted a season-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke with a winning time of 1:03.58.  Woodhead also finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.93) to win his 10th dual meet race in 11 attempts on the season.  Woodhead combined with Santino Patrizi, Tim Rice and Cameron Russo to claim second place in the 200-yard medley relay (1:54.03).  Takis Kellarakos touched the wall second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 14:05.61 in addition to finishing second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:49.21) race.      

MOUNT SAINT MARY, MOUNT SAINT VINCENT UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday (January 25) when they hit the road for Skyline Conference action Mount Saint Mary and Mount Saint Vincent in Newburgh, New York.  Start time is set for 1 p.m. from Kaplan Center.
