@OW_Panthers Swimming Records a Trio of Team-Best Times

(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury swimmers returned to Skyline Conference action Saturday afternoon at Kaplan Center in Newburgh, New York.  The men earned a 118-22 victory over Mount Saint Vincent while Mount Saint Mary captured a 114-79 win against the Panthers.  On the women's side, Mount Saint Mary claimed a 103-63 win as Mount Saint Vincent came away with a 92-65 victory. 

Bryan Woodhead and Cameron Russo each tallied a pair of victories to pace the men.  Woodhead improved to 12-1 in dual meet races after capturing victories in the 100-yard freestyle (55.07) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.45) events.  Woodhead's finish in the 100-yard breaststroke was a team-best time on the season.  Russo finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.44) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.09) events.  Takis Kellarakos added a pair of team-best times in the 500-yard freestyle (6:10.63) and 1,000-yard freestyle (13:42.82) races.  Kellarakas teamed up with Michael Bayne, Thomas Mauro and Kareem Bryan to earn first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:42.12.  Michael Bayne (200-yard IM, 2:59.33) and Thomas Mauro (100-yard backstroke, 1:08.77) each recorded season-best times. 

Jacquin Chiriguayo paced the women with a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:43.51.  Rachel Heath (50-yard freestyle, 32.16), Ashleigh Morris (500-yard freestyle, 9:31.21) and Melanie Barone (100-yard breaststroke, 1:30.51) contributed with season-best performances.

BROOKLYN BULLDOGS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Tuesday (January 28) when they hit the road for a non-conference battle with the Brooklyn Bulldogs in Brooklyn, New York.  Start time is set for 6 p.m. in West Quad Pool.
