@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball battles USMMA and William Paterson in non-conference tri-match

Old Westbury returns to Skyline Conference play on Tuesday (Oct. 28) at Yeshiva

KINGS POINT, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team traveled to Kings Point, New York on Saturday for a non-conference tri-match hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy from Edwin J. O'Hara Hall.  Old Westbury lost in straight sets to the USMMA Mariners (25-12, 25-3, 25-6) and William Paterson Pioneers (25-6, 25-11, 25-7) to close out play for the week.

Fareeda Rousdhy paced the Panther attack against USMMA with three kills, while Rayn Brown followed with two.  Ruth Vargas recorded five assists and two service aces.  Brown had a team-high five digs and Olivia O'Keefe added two.  USMMA was led by Michelle Danhof's five kills and five service aces while Riley Huelbig dished out 11 assists.    

The Panthers hit -.170 on the game as USMMA hit at a .163 clip.  USMMA outdug Old Westbury 22-13 and served up 17 service aces to just two for Old Westbury.

Against William Paterson, Vargas led the Panthers with three kills in seven swings in addition to five assists, three digs and a pair of solo blocks.  Brown followed with two kills and five digs while Courtney Gallagher chipped in with six digs and one service ace.  O'Keefe contributed one solo block.  William Paterson setter distributed 19 assists while Shauna VanDeRee nailed down six kills and Daniella Salemo followed with five.  Nicole Spicer served up three service aces and Erin Roach scooped up five digs.

William Paterson outhit Old Westbury .238 to -.316.  William Paterson held the edge in digs (17-16) and service aces (7-1) while Old Westbury earned a 3-2 advantage in blocks.  

YESHIVA MACCABEES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to Skyline Conference action on Tuesday (Oct. 28) on the road against the Yeshiva Maccabees at 8 p.m. from Baruch College's Arc Arena in New York, New York.
