@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball Competes Strong at John Jay

Old Westbury returns home on Monday (Sept. 22) for a non-conference matchup against Staten Island

NEW YORK, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-9, 25-6, 25-20) to the John Jay Bloodhounds on Saturday afternoon in non-conference road action from Doghouse in New York, New York. 

Fareeda Roushdy led the way for Old Westbury (0-6) with a career day.  Roushdy led all hitters with a career-best 10 kills.  Rayn Brown followed with five kills, 10 digs and Old Westbury's lone service ace of the day.  Ruth Vargas added four kills while Elizabeth Ozuna dished out a career-high 14 assists to direct the offense.  After struggling in the opening two sets, Old Westbury hit .367 with 15 kills on 30 swings in the third set. 

Katherine Bonilla captained the John Jay (2-9) offense with a match-high 20 assists on the day.  Rachel Eng nailed down seven kills while Jeanette Luna followed with six.  Luna also served up seven aces and Latanya Buckham chipped in with six of John Jay's 23 on the day.  Morgan Nugent contributed a pair of solo blocks.  In the end, John Jay hit .339 with 27 kills on 59 swings.      

  
BROOKLYN BULLDOGS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home for non-conference action on Monday (Sept. 22) against the Brooklyn Bulldogs from Clark Athletic Center at 6 p.m.
