NEW YORK --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball junior guard Justin Alleyne-Washington was recognized as a Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Divisions II-III Honorable Mention selection as well as landing on the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll for games played December 31-January 6, announced Tuesday.  The Skyline weekly honor is Alleyne-Washington's second of his career while the MBWA laurel is his first.
 
In Old Westbury's 2-0 week, Alleyne-Washington averaged 25.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals while shooting 50 percent (15-of-30) from the field, 45 percent (9-of-20) from three-point territory and 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from the free-throw line.  Alleyne-Washington opened the 2019 calendar year by netting a career-high 30 points (8-of-16 FG, 4-of-10 3FG, 10-of-15 FT) to go along with 10 rebounds to post his fourth-career double-double in Old Westbury's 79-72 home win against College of Mount Saint Vincent (Jan. 3).  He added two steals, two assists and a block to his statline in the victory.  Alleyne-Washington then scored 12 of his 20 points (7-of-14 FG, career-best 5-of-10 3FG) in the second half to help the Panthers to conclude the week with an 88-81 overtime win at Sarah Lawrence College (Jan. 5).
 
On the season, the Mount Vernon, New York native is averaging 18.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals while shooting 48.4 percent (76-of-157) from the field and 36.8 percent (25-of-68) from three-point territory.  Alleyne-Washington ranks among the league leaders in offensive rebounds (5th, 27), points per game (6th), offensive rebounds per game (T-6th, 2.5), three-point field goals per game (T-8th, 2.3), points (9th, 206), field goal percentage (9th), blocked shots per game (9th, 0.5), steals per game (T-9th), defensive rebounds per game (10th, 4.4) and rebounds per game (T-10th).  He also is 91st in double-doubles among the NCAA Division III statistical leaders.
 
UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS UP NEXT FOR ALLEYNE-WASHINGTON AND THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury (6-5, 4-2 Skyline) travels Tuesday (Jan. 8) to Kings Point, New York for a Skyline Conference matchup against the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (2-7, 0-5 Skyline) at 7:30 p.m. inside Liebertz Gymnasium.  The Panthers have claimed victory in all three games versus the Mariners since USMMA returned to the Skyline Conference in 2016-17.
