Men’s Basketball Falls to Hofstra in Exhibition Game to Open Season

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball team returned to the court on Monday night as they fell to the Hofstra Pride in an exhibition game. The final score was 89-62 in favor of the Pride. 
 
The Panthers looked sharp despite going up against a tougher DI opponent in Hofstra. For the Panthers, their defense was their strength. Throughout the game, the Panthers managed to force 11 turnovers, scoring nine points off Pride mishaps. 
 
The Panthers themselves finished the game with 15 turnovers and allowed Hofstra to score 16 points off of them. 
 
Old Westbury shot the ball 36 percent from the floor, 42 percent from behind-the-arc and75 percent from the free-throw line. For Hofstra, they finished the game having shot 46 percent from field-goal range, 32 percent from three and 78 percent from the line. 
 
Amadi Lee-Kane led the team in scoring as he recorded 11 points, and two steals. Jaden Flemming recorded 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Bradley Young finished the night with eight points and six rebounds. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will open the season at home on Saturday, November 9 in the Clark Center Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 PM.
