Men’s Volleyball Drops Three Set Match to Brooklyn College on Tuesday Night

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's volleyball team was defeated on Tuesday night by the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College, 3-0. 
 
The Panthers now drop to 0-5 on the season and sit at 0-1 in conference play. 
 
Old Westbury struggled from the start against a sharp Brooklyn attack. The Panthers fell short in the opening set as they only managed to score nine points compared to Brooklyn's 25. The Bulldogs had 11 first set kills while the Panthers had five. 
 
In the second set, the Panthers showed improvement in their attack. The Panthers recorded 10 kills and just four errors in the second set where they fell 17-25.
 
The third and final set was the closest for OW as they went on a small scoring run towards the end of the set. The Panthers recorded just four kills in the final set compared to Brooklyn's 10. Old Westbury fell 18-25 and lost the match 3-0. 
 
Damian Villamil led the team in kills as he finished with five kills and one block. Torrence Fredericks had four kills and one block. Ashel Santos recorded 13 set assists, two service aces and six digs. 
 
Net up, the Panthers will return home for another non-conference match against the Cardinals of York College on Thursday, February 20. That match will take place at 6 PM.
