Men’s Volleyball Dominates with Three Set Sweep of Fisher on Wednesday

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury men's volleyball team defeated the Falcons of Fisher College on Wednesday night. The Panthers swept 3-0. 
 
Old Westbury continues their win streak with their third straight victory. The Panthers advance to 3-5 overall on the season. OW currently holds a 1-1 conference record. 
 
The Panthers looked sharp in the opening set as they held the Falcons to just 13 points. Old Westbury was able to secure 12 kills throughout the first set and scored the opening six points. A five-point run later in the set gave OW a 21-9 commanding lead. The Panthers would walk away with the set victory, 25-13. 
 
In the second set, Old Westbury managed to hold Fisher to just 10 points. The Panthers combined 15 total kills, multiple service aces and several scoring runs to take a comfortable second set victory. 
 
In what would be the final set of the night, the action was the closest. Despite the Panthers finding a 12-0 lead to start the game, Fisher managed to rally back and make the score much closer, 24-16. The Panthers closed out the set on an attacking error by the Falcons. Old Westbury walked away with the third set, 25-16 and took the match 3-0. 
 
Liam Eisel finished the night with nine kills, 13 assists and four digs. Damian Villamil recorded nine kills. Daniel Felziz had a strong night as he recorded five kills, two service aces, and a block. Ash Santos impressed once again with seven aces and 15 assists. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will return to conference play. Old Westbury will compete in a tri-match hosted by St. Joseph's-Long Island. The Panthers will face off against the Golden Eagles as well as the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent. That will take place on Saturday, March 1 at 10 AM and 12 PM, respectively.
