Softball Unsuccessful at THE Spring Games Against Keene State and Endicott on Thursday

LEESBURG, Fla. – The SUNY Old Westbury softball team was defeated by the Owls of Keene State University and the Gulls of Endicott College on Thursday. The final scores were 2-0 and 13-2, respectively.
 
The Panthers now fall to 0-8 thus far on the season.
 
Game One- SUNY Old Westbury (0) – Keene State (2)
 
The scoring got going in favor of the Owls in the top of the second inning. Keene State scored an unearned run off a single to center field.
 
Keene State held their 1-0 lead for a few innings until they added on another run in the fourth inning courtesy of a single to second base.
 
Old Westbury was unable to comeback and rally and would fall short to Keene State, 2-0.
 
Ashley Pierce had the only two hits of the game for the Panthers as she went 2-3.
 
Hailey Ragozine threw 5.2 innings and struck out three batters. Ragozine allowed just one earned run and a walk. Layla Ramos came in and faced four batters where she allowed one hit.

Game Two- SUNY Old Westbury (13) – Endicott (2) [Five Innings]
 
Both sides were slow to get going in the scoring column. Endicott struck first and fast. The Gulls were able to score five runs in the third inning.
 
Endicott added eight runs in the fourth inning on eight runs and an error.
 
The Panthers were able to spark a small rally that included two runs thanks to an RBI singles from Phylicia Cangemi and Morgan Albright.
 
Despite the late push, the Panthers were unable to compile a comeback and fell short to Endicott, 13-2.
 
Phylicia Cangemi went 2-3 at the plate with an RBI. Morgan Albright had a hit and an RBI. Juliana Vasquez and Faith Binaso each finished with a hit.
 
Taylor Murphy got the start in the circle and threw three innings. Murphy struck out one batter and walked three.
 
Next up, the Panthers will round out their week at THE Spring Games in Orlando, Florida. Old Westbury will face off against Simpson and Knox on Saturday, March 22. The Panthers will play at 10 AM and 2:30 PM, respectively.
