Softball Downed by Farmingdale State on Saturday

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The SUNY Old Westbury softball team was defeated by the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Saturday. The final scores were 1-10 and 0-9, respectively.
 
Old Westbury falls to 12-14 overall on the campaign and holds a Skyline Conference record of 4-4.
 
Game One- SUNY Old Westbury (1) – Farmingdale State (10) [Five Innings]
 
Farmingdale got things going early in the scoring column as they started things off with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
 
The Rams continued their scoring spree in the second inning as they saw an offensive explosion of eight runs and four hits. FSC used three Old Westbury errors to their advantage.
 
With a 10-0 lead, the Panthers finally responded with a run of their own in the top of the third inning when Ashley Pierce reached on a wild pitch, allowing Alaina Reilly to score. This would be the Panthers' lone run of the game.
 
Old Westbury would fall to Farmingdale, 10-1 in the first game of the doubleheader.
 
The Panthers were hindered by a total of four errors.
 
Alaina Reilly went 2-2 from the dish with a run. Madison Danin recorded two hits of her own. Faith Binaso, Ashleigh Stewart, Hillary Bennett and Amanda Varela each combined for hits.
 
Hailey Ragozine got the start in the opening game. Ragozine allowed four earned runs and seven hits.
 
Game Two- SUNY Old Westbury (0) – Farmingdale State (9) [Five Innings]
 
The second game featured a similar start as the Rams got off to another fast start. Farmingdale would score two runs in the opening frame.
 
With a 2-0 lead, the Rams added another pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning.

The Panthers were unable to see an offensive spark.
 
Farmingdale would add another five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
 
With just a half inning to rally, the Panthers were unable to produce any runs. Old Westbury would fall to Farmingdale, 9-0 in the second game of the day.
 
The Rams held the Panthers to just four hits in the second game.
 
Zoe Rivera, Madison Danin, Layla Ramos and Stella Apuzzi combined for the Panthers hits.
 
Layla Ramos got the start for the Panthers. Ramos struck out three batters and allowed four earned runs and 10 hits.
 
Next up, the Panthers will continue Skyline Conference play.  Old Westbury will play host to Manhattanville University on Tuesday, April 22. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled for 4 PM from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.
