Baseball Picks Up Non-Conference Victory Over John Jay on Tuesday Afternoon

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury baseball team defeated the Bloodhounds of John Jay College on Tuesday, 9-2. 
 
Old Westbury improves to 16-13 overall on the 2025 campaign.

Old Westbury got going early in the scoring column. The Panthers added two runs in the first inning courtesy of an RBI single from Sean Maddi and a sacrifice fly from Joe Morreale
 
Holding a 2-0 lead, the Panthers added another run in the bottom of the second thanks to a sac fly from Zachary Horowitz to score Nick Mace
 
The Panthers tacked on two more runs in the third inning thanks to an RBI single from JJ Palumbo and an RBI from Ricky Fasitta

RJ Azarieh hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to score Angelo Velez to make the score another run. 
 
John Jay scored their first and only runs of the game in the fifth inning on a two RBI single through the right side. 
 
The Panthers added another run in the sixth as Azarieh hit another RBI single to left field. 
 
The final run of the game for the Panthers was scored by Velez who homered, inside the park. 
 
Old Westbury would win the game by a final score of 9-2. 
 
Angelo Velez went 2-3 at the dish with one RBI and four runs. Sean Maddi recorded a hit, an RBI and two runs. RJ Azarieh had a strong game with two hits, three RBIs and a run. Nick Mace went a perfect 3-3 at the dish. 
 
Justin Aramini got the start and recorded a strikeout while allowing five hits and two runs. Dom Gerbasio threw two innings of relief and allowed just two hits. Mike Balnis threw an inning where he did not allow a hit. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will return to action tomorrow, Friday, April 25 for a doubleheader against Manhattanville University. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM.
