WOMEN'S SWIMMING UNABLE TO TOP PURCHASE COLLEGE

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury Women's Swim team competed against Purchase College in a
Skyline Conference showdown on Tuesday night at the Old Westbury
Aquatic Center. Old Westbury was denied their first win of
the season, losing to Purchase College, 127-67. Old Westbury
fell to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in conference action while Purchase
College remains undefeated at 8-0 overall and 4-0 against Skyline
competition.
The Panthers claimed three first place medals, in which the
Marmol sisters claimed. Brenda Marmol captured first place in
both the 500 Freestyle and the 50 Butterfly. In the 500
Freestyle, Brenda finished with a time of 6:28.08 and in the 50
Butterfly, she clocked in at 33.48. Jessica Marmol took
home first place in the 50 Breaststroke, finishing at 38.42 while
Grace Liu finished in fifth place at 59.49. In the 50
Freestyle, Mayra Okkotsu claimed second place with a time of 38.60
while Samantha Beja (49.38) claimed fourth place and Shadi
Alagheband (54.94) finished in fifth place. Inez Zuska picked
up a third place finish in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:17.45
while Shadi Alagheband finished in fifth place at 2:13.48.
Brenda Marmol competed in the 100 Breaststroke and claimed third
place in at 1:23.71 while Grace Liu (2:21.65) followed in fourth
place. Samantha Beja finished in third place in the 50
Backstroke with a time of 45.69.
In relay competition, a team consisting of Mayra Okkotsu,
Samantha Beja, Jessica Marmol and Brenda Marmol claimed second
place in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a finish of 2:32.87.
