OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) This week, SUNY Old Westbury joins the NCAA in celebrating its annual Division III Week, April 13-19. Over the next seven days, Old Westbury will profile six student-athletes that represent the spirit of being a Division III student-athlete.

In the second profile, we look at Syosset, New York native and women's swimmer Rebecca Warshauer.

The Warshauer File:
-A psychology major currently in her senior year
-Fall 2019 Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll (3.0 GPA and above)
-In the 2019-20 season, she helped record season best times in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:28.98), 400-yard freestyle relay (5:38.82) and the 200-meter freestyle relay (2:42.70)
 
Q: What made you decide to major in Psychology? 
A: I chose Psychology because my career goal is to become a clinical psychologist and to teach college level psychology courses. I love to help people and I am great at understanding people. I am a pride myself on being people person.
 
Q: Did you always know you wanted to swim at the collegiate level? 
A:  Actually no, my entire life I was a runner. Track and cross country were my sports since I was old enough to run. I started swimming in college, fell in love with it and wanted to compete at this level. 

Q: What have you experienced as a Division III athlete that has made your collegiate experience more special? 
A: The experience I had as a Division III athlete was being able to work hard and train with my teammates. I will always cherish the relationship I was able to build with my teammates along with the coaching staff, head coach Sigitas Rudokas and assistant Rick Amira.
 
Q: What is your favorite memory in your athletic career? 
A: My favorite memory in my athletic career was when I placed first place in the 50 freestyle. It was my first win and it was awesome. 
 
Q: What do you hope to do after graduating from SUNY Old Westbury? How is Old Westbury helping you to achieve those goals? 
A: After I graduate from SUNY Old Westbury I will be attending graduate school. The amazing professors at Old Westbury is helping me work towards my career goals.
 
Q: What advice would you give to an incoming freshman student-athlete at SUNY Old Westbury? 
A: My advice to an incoming freshman student-athlete would be to keep working hard towards your goals and you will achieve them. Study hard and play hard. 

Q: What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete? 
A: What I enjoy most about being a student-athlete is being able to wear a uniform and represent Old Westbury.
