Women’s Swimming clashes with John Jay

Old Westbury is back in the pool next Wednesday (Dec. 4) for a dual meet against York College

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's swimming dropped an 81-71 home decision to the John Jay College Bloodhounds (1-0) Monday evening inside Clark Athletic Center. Old Westbury moves to 0-14 on the season.

Leading the way was Mia Hidalgo, who touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.99) and 100-yard butterfly (1:29.46). Diana Castellanos followed with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle (2:19.02) and finished third in the 500-yard freestyle (10:53.11). Rebecca Warshauer also captured victory in the 50-yard freestyle (38.83) while Adelyn Veras placed second 100-yard butterfly (1:29.46) and 100-yard backstroke (1:25.18). Dina Terki placed second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:19.79) and Amy Arias-Torres took third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:25.29) and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (3:46.99). Yvette Domond (45.76), Brianna Williams (48.19) and Domanaye Newman (1:21.89) all competed in the 50-yard freestyle event.

Terki, Hidalgo, Veras and Warshauer opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley (2:36.76) as Williams, Castellanos, Arias-Torres and Warshauer finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:51.45 to close out the meet.

Old Westbury travels to Jamaica, New York next Wednesday (Dec. 4) for a dual meet against the York College Cardinals at 6 p.m. inside York College Swimming Pool.
