WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS TO U.S.M.M.A.

College at Old Westbury Women's Swimming team suffered a 103-54
loss to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Thursday evening at the
O'Hara Hall Natorium. The loss dropped Old Westbury to 0-9 on
the season while the Mariners moved to 4-5 overall.
The Panthers earned victories in three of the 13 events on
Thursday, and were unable overcome the depth presented by the
Mariners. Despite the loss for the team, several highlights
came on Thursday. Brenda Marmol finished first in both the
1000 Freestyle (13.22.16) and the 500 Freestyle (6:20.90).
Inez Zuska and Samantha Beja followed with second place
finishes. Zuska claimed second place in the 200 Freestyle
(2:58.52) and 100 Freestyle (1:20.36) while Beja notched second
place in the 100 Backstroke (1:50.18). Later Beja, Mayra
Okkotsu and Shadi Alagheband finished two, three and four in the 50
Freestyle. Beja nabbed second place in 38.70. Okkotsu
followed in third (49.42) while Alagheband finished fourth in
54.90.
The Old Westbury 200 medley relay team of Beja, Okkotsu, Zuska
and Brenda Marmol finished second with a time of 3:02.14. The
200 freestyle relay squad of Grace Liu, Courtney Reid, Jessica
Marmol and Beja collected first place in at 3:00.89.

The Women's squad returns to action at the College of Staten
Island on Tuesday, January 29th for a non-conference
